Kip protective tapes are ideal for masking plaster, stucco and building protection work indoors and outdoors. They consist of a PVC or PE backing, which influences the properties of the tape. PVC is resistant to water, acids, alkalis, alcohol, oils, petrol and salt water. It remains dimensionally stable when exposed to sunlight and thus allows straight edges to be masked. On weathered plastic substrates, however, a test bonding should be carried out beforehand. PE is milky white and very elastic. It is insensitive to water, solvents and acids. As a result, it remains dimensionally stable at both high and very low temperatures. A high-quality release layer allows easy unrolling without warping the tape. It is ideally suited for plastic substrates. However, care should be taken with galvanised surfaces. Anodised aluminium is not suitable for PE protective tapes. They can withstand temperatures from 40°C to 60°C.
