Marseille soap - surface protection for terra clays and clay plasters
This soap was first produced in Marseille during the 17th century.
Its recipe has not changed until today.
Tree oils, mainly olive oils, are used to boil this soap.

To make it more soluble, it is flocculated. It is without the addition of artificial surfactants and preservatives.
Marseille soap is excellently suited as a surface protection of Terrastone Rustique. To do this, dissolve 20g of Marseille soap in 1 litre of boiling water. The finished soap suds you apply with a brush on the Terrastone Rustique on the surface. You can apply the soap on the dried surface or on the Terrastone Rustique or on the fresh plaster. The latter method produces water-repellent lime soap.
The Marseille soap is also suitable as a surface protection for Terrastone, Terrastone Fino and Yosima clay plaster. For these surfaces, apply the soap after drying with the short pile roller.
