Product information "Buch der Architekturfarben"

Book of architectural colors by Le Corbusier
The Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier book for the practice of architectural colour design - parallel in German, English and French. With 63 colours from 9 colour groups, Le Corbusier's Polychromie Architecturale offers a unique tool for skilful and convincing colour concepts.
Be inspired by the fascinating architectural colours, the effects of the colours, the suggested colour moods as well as images of Le Corbusier's colour design. The colours of the Polychromie Architecturale - Le Corbusier's architectural colours - are consistently harmonious and can be impressively combined in any way. Each shade embodies spatial effects and causes characteristic reactions to our sensibilities.
This book provides background information on Le Corbusier, his buildings, as well as his 1931 and 1959 color keyboards, the Fondation Le Corbusier, and the Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier authenticity mark. Furthermore, for each of the 63 architectural colors, the appropriate color history and design explanation is described. The second part of the book deals with the colour moods that Le Corbusier developed for the wallpaper company Salubra. The combination colors are divided into color groups and the color series.

Les Couleurs Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier paints and wallpapers

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris became one of the most influential architects of the 20th century under the pen name Le Corbusier. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he considered the color scheme of a building to be as powerful a design tool as its floor plan and section. In 1931, he therefore developed his first own, architecture-related color palette. It consisted of 43 colors in twelve moods, which bore such imaginative names as "Space", "Sky", "Velvet", and "Sand". In 1959, he supplemented this first palette with 20 additional deep, dynamic hues such as vibrant variegated hues, earthy, powerful color values, and rich blacks.

Le Corbusier's choice of colors, which he himself called "Polychromie Architecturale", was subjective. Perhaps for this very reason, it is characterized by a unique aesthetic that has lost nothing of its beauty, power and relevance even after decades.

All the shades of the colour scale he developed can be harmoniously combined with each other. "Polychromie Architecturale" is still regarded today as both a practical tool for architectural design and a work of art.

Le Corbusier's 63 masterful shades are now available under the brand poLyChro®, Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier - transformed into color formulations of unique quality. Thanks to their special formulation, they offer a perfect symbiosis of velvety matt surface and fascinating depth of colour: poLyChro® colours are full of life, enormously intense and yet restrainedly elegant.

They are manufactured exclusively by the long-established German paint manufacturer Keim, which, as the world market leader in silicate technology, stands for the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
