The wall covering is made up of individual tiles that are supplied as a set. The finely graduated pattern of interlocking rectangles and an overlaid triangular pattern on the tiles is made from Capiz shells, which are harvested on the Philippine island of Samal. Thanks to an innovative technique in which the shells are pressed by hand onto a structure of strings, the tiles have a striking relief. The tiles are hexagonal, which emphasises the geometric character of the pattern.
During the Spanish colonial period, capiz shells were often used instead of glass in the windows of colonial buildings. The shells were easy to obtain and also filtered the incoming light in a pleasant way.
The pattern is available in neutral and vibrant colours, all of which are characterised by a noble, natural mother-of-pearl sheen. The colour nuances of the mother-of-pearl change depending on the incidence of light, creating a surprising effect.
The tiles can be laid over the entire surface or arranged as accents in smaller numbers. In combination with a plain wall colour, even a small number of tiles can be used to create an eye-catching effect.
Shells are a natural product. Differences in colour and structure are due to the material and contribute to the characteristic expression of this high-quality product. Together with the handcrafted production steps, this ensures variations in the tiles and makes them an exclusive and artistic wall covering. Individual tiles can be recognised on the wall and are a sign of quality and authenticity.
The tiles are splash-proof, but should not come into contact with water for long periods of time.
The tiles are supplied in a set of 4 tiles, each 50 cm high and 50 cm wide. A set can be extended with additional sets. One set covers an area of 1 m².

Important: To fix the tiles to the wall, Clearpro Extreme paste by Arte is required.
The product is produced on a high quality non-woven backing. This makes it very easy to apply: The wall is pasted and the panels are glued directly onto the wall.
