Chealea Bridge - design wallpaper by Little Greene

Chealsea Bridge - ca. 1850, plain paper wallpaper

This pattern is unmistakably French in style, but the archival document that has left the new design with many design possibilities comes from a prestigious address near the Thames. The decorative stripe on either side of the floral column has been retained but reduced to give the pattern more balance when applied repeatedly.

Little Greene Paint Company Limited is a family-run English paint and wallpaper manufacturer dedicated to producing exclusive paints and wallpapers. With a history dating back to 1773, the factory on the outskirts of Manchester is one of the oldest industrial sites for paint production in England. Many of Little Greene’s wallpapers revive designs that had lain forgotten in archives for decades. They are produced using intricate printing processes on high-quality non-woven backing, which gives them their refined, traditional texture and elegant appearance.
