The Mandalay wallpaper is inspired by the leather wallpaper of a Jacobean mansion in East Sussex. Elaborate patterns like these were inspired by 17th century Indian chintz fabrics, which often depicted twisting, flowering trees with birds. Leather wallpaper was the forerunner of wallpaper as we know it today, and although the production of such panels required a different skill, the method by which the early wallpapers were hung and their decorative effect in the room are very similar.
The wallpaper comes in a set of 3 panels (each panel measures 0.70 x 3.25m). After applying the panels of this set, the next set is applied to the wall. This makes cutting the wallpaper to size very easy. Important: The wallpaper can only be used for walls up to a maximum height of 3.25m.
The product is produced on a high quality non-woven backing. This makes it very easy to apply. The wall is pasted and the panels are glued directly onto the wall.
