Starflower - Sixties wallpaper from Little Greene

Starflower - smooth paper wallpaper, ca. 1967

This is perhaps the most iconic of the retro wallpapers. The Starflower design probably originated in Belgium and has been reprinted in a color variation that is very close to the original. Starflower dates from 1967, when bold, expressive wallpaper became available everywhere, and represents this radical new interpretation of a floral pattern at its best.

Little Greene Paint Company Limited is a family-run English paint and wallpaper manufacturer dedicated to producing exclusive paints and wallpapers. With a history dating back to 1773, the factory on the outskirts of Manchester is one of the oldest industrial sites for paint production in England. Many of Little Greene’s wallpapers revive designs that had lain forgotten in archives for decades. They are produced using intricate printing processes on high-quality non-woven backing, which gives them their refined, traditional texture and elegant appearance.
