Zingara - vintage wallpaper from Little Greene

Zingara - ca. 1960

Zingara was the name of a design in a collection produced by John Line in 1960. The Cerulean Sea colour variation of the Zingara wallpaper matches the original document found in the wallpaper archive at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. The quality of the elegant freehand drawing adds charm to this relaxed scene of boats at anchor.

Little Greene Paint Company Limited is a family-run English paint and wallpaper manufacturer dedicated to producing exclusive paints and wallpapers. With a history dating back to 1773, the factory on the outskirts of Manchester is one of the oldest industrial sites for paint production in England. Many of Little Greene’s wallpapers revive designs that had lain forgotten in archives for decades. They are produced using intricate printing processes on high-quality non-woven backing, which gives them their refined, traditional texture and elegant appearance.
