Wallpaper Strawberry Thief by Morris & Co.

Originally a fabric design, Strawberry Thief was first printed on cotton at Merton Abbey in 1883. Although it was very expensive to produce, it became one of the most popular fabric designs. Now, for the first time, this design is available as a wallcovering in colours that directly match the other prints in the Archive collection.
The Strawberry Thief wallpaper is available in three colourways.

The wallpapers by William Morris are a classic of English wallpaper design. They suit both classical and modern interior concepts.
William Morris (1834-1896) was an English textile designer, poet, writer and translator. A pioneer of the English Arts and Crafts movement, a forerunner of German Jugendstil, he helped revive traditional British textiles and crafts.
In 1861 he and partners founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co, which became Morris & Co in 1875, a manufacturer of furniture and decorative arts. The company was inspired by medieval aesthetics and craftsmanship and had a great influence on the interior design of churches and houses in the early 20th century.
In 1940, Morris & Co closed. However, the wallpaper designs are produced and marketed to this day by Sanderson under its Morris & Co brand name.
