The wallpaper is inspired by a design by William Morris from 1874, which hung in the drawing room of the famous typographer, letterpress printer and friend of William Morris, Sir Emery Walker. The wallpaper was added to the Morris & Co. range as part of the collaboration between Morris & Co. and Emery Walker's House.

The wallpapers by William Morris are a classic of English wallpaper design. They suit both classical and modern interior concepts.
William Morris (1834-1896) was an English textile designer, poet, writer and translator. A pioneer of the English Arts and Crafts movement, a forerunner of German Jugendstil, he helped revive traditional British textiles and crafts.
In 1861 he and partners founded Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co, which became Morris & Co in 1875, a manufacturer of furniture and decorative arts. The company was inspired by medieval aesthetics and craftsmanship and had a great influence on the interior design of churches and houses in the early 20th century.
In 1940, Morris & Co closed. However, the wallpaper designs are produced and marketed to this day by Sanderson under its Morris & Co brand name.
