Archive IV

The ‘Archive IV: The Collector’ wallpaper collection by Morris & Co. is a compilation of reissued designs from the company’s archive, drawn from its Victorian heritage. Some of the wallpaper patterns are based on hand-woven carpet designs with a Persian-inspired style, whilst ‘Acanthus’ – the first wallpaper ever published by Morris & Co. – is based on an original design by William Morris from 1875. Meandering branches, densely intertwined floral tendrils and intricate, repeating floral patterns characterise the collection, combining floral opulence with clean, defined lines. The colour scheme ranges from slate grey, stone and linen tones through saffron, mustard yellow and bronze to olive, thyme and wine red, thus echoing the muted, time-honoured colour palette of the historical originals. The result is wall coverings that combine artistic reconstruction with contemporary comfort, lending rooms a refined, traditional ambience.
